Adu's working method is quick and gestural. The characters tend to be whimsical, even cartoon-like at times. The images range from animals, people and houses, to landscapes and roads, incorporating her old and new surroundings (she had recently relocated to Minneapolis from Duluth) and reflecting upon friends and places she had left behind.

"I guess, simply put, they are fragments of thought and sight, memory and dreams," she says.
