My New eBook is Now Available for $9.99!
"Bits & Pieces: A Visual Journey" by Adu Gindy
Most Minnesotans can relate to long drives – a couple hours to the cabin or a couple hours to the Twin Cities from Duluth – you let your mind wander, you take in the scenery, and you think about past experiences and memories. Adu took this universal experience and translated it into painting for her 2010 exhibit at the Duluth Art Institute.
Check out my new eBook at Blurb.com! Also available as Large format landscape 13x11 inches, 70 pages, 108 images, with a Foreword and Introduction as well as an updated Biography/Exhibitions list.

"Bits & Pieces: A Visual Journey"
Duluth Art Institute Duluth, MN August 12 - October 24, 2010
Article by Christa Lawler
In 2010, Christa Lawler interviewed Adu about the show she was preparing at that time for the Duluth Art Institute, consisting of hundreds of 12" x 12" square canvas paintings.
"One of Adu Gindy's muses is the highway system.
"The painter watches the world through the car window, then goes to her studio to re-create the story of the things she has seen, and the green, blue and mustard-hued fields—horizontal swatches of color that are the pauses between thoughts and the passing of time.
"Gindy's exhibition 'Bits & Pieces: A Visual Journey' is in the John Steffl Gallery at the Duluth Art Institute, and it includes about 200 pieces she has painted in the past year—many of those while on the road.
"If I were a writer, I'd be writing every day," she said. "But I'm a painter.

"The Sky is Falling" Duluth Art Institute June, 2003
"Paintings" Waters of Superior, Duluth June, 2003
"Paintings" Pizza Luce, Duluth June, 2003
Article by Ann Klefstad
In 2003, this review by Ann Klefstad appeared on the Walker Art Center-sponsored website mnartists.org --
"Adu Gindy’s paintings are featured at three galleries in Duluth this month: the Duluth Art Institute, Waters of Superior, and Pizza Luce. Differing bodies of work are shown in each place. How does context affect artwork?"
"It’s not often you can see the work of one artist in three places at once. A pizza joint, a nonprofit exhibition space, and a commercial gallery are all exhibiting the work of Adu Gindy, a strong and well-respected painter from Duluth. I got interested in what bodies of work the different venues elicited, and how the spaces inflected the experience of the work."
